What do you need to host a website?:

Domain name – That is the name that is linked to your website, people can remember it and use it to get to your website with their internet browser. It is the name that they type in the address bar on top of the internet browser. like “www.yourdomain.com”, Domains get uniquely registered and there are a few differences in the registration and where you register them.

DNS server – These are the servers that point your domain registration to the servers that host your website, called Domain Name Servers. There is a network of them across the world that communicate all the time to keep all the Domain name records up to date. You also do not need to be concerned about them either.

Hosting server – This is the part that concerns you more. Your website files are on this server and that is what displays your website and gives you the look and feel and all the functions that want on your website as well as the speed your website is loaded etc.

When you host with us we handle both of the other parts of the hosting process for you, so you don’t have to worry about them. We will tell you the differences that you will get in your hosting server. The hosting is normally split between your website hosting and your email hosting.

All hosting providers give you a server where your website files reside, the difference is how it is done and the scalability and features that you have access to. We will list a few features that can make a difference and explain what they do and how they will help you.

Our servers run on an Nginx webserver. When you host with us, there are security and firewalls installed on the server level that makes your website more secure and the implementation of cashing services on the server level makes your website faster and more secure and then you don’t have to install plugins on your website to handle those features.

The fewer plugins that have to be serviced on your website the better the speed will be and that is what your customers want.

Cloud hosting – When you host with us we make use of a cloud-based hosting solution, Some providers have server-based hosting where 1 server host a few hundred websites with no redundancy, and there will be a few servers in their server farm, but if 1 server goes down for any reason all the websites that are served by that server are down as well. With cloud-based hosting all the servers are configured in a cloud where all resources are shared among the websites that they service, if 1 server goes down the websites are served by the remainder of the server without any downtime.

Website files and databases – Most websites these days make use of a Content Management System where there are website files and databases involved. If the Service Provider has the databases and website files in different data centres that are apart from each other. We host databases and website files in the same data centre.

The website and function make connections with the database all the time and the plugins that WordPress uses also make database connections, and if the service provider limits the number of concurrent connections then some of the features will not be working all the time. With us, you will not have that problem.

Testing server – When you host with us, we provide a separate testing server for your website. You can make a duplicate of your website with a click of the mouse and then you have an exact copy of your website. On the test copy, you can test new plugins for your WordPress website without interrupting your production website. Test Layout or whatever you want to test.

You can test different plugins that do the same function and then decide which plugin to install on your production website. If you installed a new plugin on the testing server and you like it you can even overwrite your live website with the changes and then you don’t have to redo them on your live site. All this with just a click of your mouse

Backup and Restore – we have backups that make backups all the time of your website files, databases and your emails. You are in control if you want to make a snapshot now and you can restore any backup in the last 30 days whenever you want to.

Edge Cashing – We provide Edge caching for your website all over the world. Edge caching is where your website is saved on different servers around the world and kept in sync with each other to serve your website visitors quicker. It provides a better experience for your visitors.

Domain Key Signatures(DKIM) – Domain key signatures are used to sign e-mails sent from our mail servers, with your domain key, to help prevent email spoofing and improve email deliverability. We provide it free with your hosting package.

Web Optimization – Automatically apply web performance best practices to optimise your website and improve your page speed.

Control panel – We provide a world-class control panel where you can manage your website and email hosting 24/7 and with ease.  Our control panel give you access to very advanced features that will improve your website and make it better and more secure.

SSL Certificate – We provide a free Securit Certificate with your website hosting for your domains, that is the secure browsing that you see in your web browser address line “https://” with the lock sign left off the address. Google prefer if you have a security certificate on your website. You will get better SEO for your website and increase trust with your visitors and potential customers. You will add more security to your website.

Hotlink Protection – Hotlink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files on your website. The most common use of hotlinking is other websites linking to an image from your site from their own. Any domains listed in ‘Whitelisted URLs’ will be allowed to link to your site regardless of your blocked extensions. We provide hotlink protection included in your package.

Less Overhead – With all these extra features build into the server means that you don’t have to install WordPress plugins to handle these feature and that make your website lighter and as a result much faster.

Website space and traffic – We provide unlimited web space and unlimited traffic for your website, so you don’t have to be concerned with how much space you need, and your web space is not shared with your email space( like most providers do)

Email space – We provide 10Gb space per email address. Your package is limited to the number of email addresses you get with every size package. Other providers give 100 email addresses with 5Gb space that is shared with your website but if you read carefully all the email boxes share 1 space which is normally 50% of what you get per email address with us.  Other providers give you 5 x 50Mb mailboxes, which is 0.5% of the size you get from us.

Just an example of what can be stored in a mailbox. A simple short email with text and an email signature can be about 25Kb, in an email box of 50Mb you can have about 2000 emails and that includes all the emails that you received and that you send out to other email addresses.  If you add any attachments to your emails then this can be less than 100 emails. Attachments are any files that are sent with your email like bank statements or quotations.

When you host with us, the 2000 emails will become 2 million emails. We prefer that you make use of our IMAP services then you can leave your emails on the server and read them on more than 1 device and don’t have to back up your emails and never worry about losing your emails.

Site builder – If you don’t choose the WordPress setup, we provide a drag-and-drop easy-to-use site builder included in your package. No technical background or programming skills are required to build your world-class website in your own time. You can make changes to your website any hour of the day without waiting for a web developer to make the changes. You can make as many as you wish without any charge.
